Disaster Management,
Command & Control
SMART C4i has been
designed and configured to function effectively in a civil environment,
using commercially available communication links. Most information systems are very restricted in Command and Control terms and
applications such as Vehicle Tracking Systems only display limited data
and do not allow the two-way exchange of graphical information,
commands, chat and status. SMART enables all users to
communicate with each other, and share information between, for
example, the police and security forces.
SMART runs on
the latest, rugged, tablet computers and PDA's and, most importantly and supports multiple protocols and communication formats
to enable easy integration into existing systems and data communications.
Simulation and Modeling |
|
|
|
SMART interfaces to simulation and modelling software
which enables the output of these products (such as the dispersion of a
gas in an urban environment) to be graphically distributed in real time
to forces on the ground dealing with the emergency. Examples
include flood predictions and management, oil spills and chemical
releases. |
|
 |
Chemical / Biological
Events
SMART can analyse and
display chemical / biological events and calculates predicted spread
from weather data giving an immediate
and projected hazard prediction and a graphical overview of personnel and key
locations in danger.
SMART incorporates an
automatic and selective warning to threatened ground assets.
Current calculations are based on ATP45 (NATO field manual) but
SMART can also incorporate
calculations based on any alternate database
for civil
emergency and disaster management scenarios.

Oil Spills |
|
|
 |
|
Working with partners,
ASA, Intaero can take data from a modeling environment and pass it in
graphical format on tablet computers or PDAs to the decision makers
responsible for minimising the effects of the spill. In addition,
the actual extent of the spill can easily be entered into the mobile
computer and passed back to the modeling centre to update the model and
refine the output |

Disaster
Management and Situation Monitoring |
|
|
|
Intaero and
its partners can design, develop and install an integrated
communications management system and operational database. This
could include call centres at regional level which would integrate to a
national call centre at the Disaster Headquarters. The SMART C4i
capability is an ideal tool for disaster management, integrating all
people on the ground with support, logistics, medical facilities,
command posts etc. Our ability to manage the distribution of real
time data over any communications including radio and satellite, enables
information and images to be input by the teams on the ground and shared
in real time with all interested agencies. |

|
Intaero has expertise in data acquisition and
integration, using GIS tools to integrate and make sense of data from
multiple sources. We also have considerable experience of working
with both manned aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). We are able to operate and manage aircraft
fitted with a wide range of sensors to gather data and provide real time
information on the extent of a disaster, whether local or remote.
Use of a manned, twin engine aircraft, such as the Diamond MPP shown
here, provides an ideal, all weather platform for disaster assessment
and for initial control of the disaster relief effort, providing
imagery, communications relay and an airborne command post with 6 hours
endurance. When fitted with high resolution day and Infra Red
cameras this aircraft has a 24 hour capability to monitor and report on
the disaster and relief requirements.

|
 |
| Unmanned Aerial Vehicles have unique
qualities which make them ideal for long term situation monitoring.
However, to operate a UAV in a commercial environment requires
experience and the right kind of vehicle. We are proud to work
with Aerosonde, an Australian company which has considerable experience
of UAV design and operations in all environments. Aerosonde is the
only company to have an Airborne Operators Certificate for the operation
of their UAV in civil airspace and this, together with the light weight,
makes it ideal for long endurance, monitoring operations.
The UAV can be equipped with a high resolution video camera and can fly
over an affected area for up to 30 hours without needing to land. This
facility would provide real-time, cost-effective information to those
responsible for managing the disaster. |
