NCW Operations Air Defence COE Modeling for NCW Smart Controller SMART C4i

NCW Simulation and Modeling Environment

Intaero has embarked on the development of a Joint Warfare Interoperability Centre (JWIC) through a phased approach based on initial requirements for a simulation and modeling laboratory.  This facility will be a  flexible, tri-service, tool which will support the transition from a platform centric to a network centric force by:

bullet Creating a  laboratory that demonstrates NCW technology and concepts to all stakeholders
bullet Creating a facility which becomes the foundation for the future Network Centric Forces
bullet Developing the lab into a fully capable JWIC which will support future interoperability
bullet Enabling the rapid prototyping of new capabilities in a representative, operational environment
bullet Supporting the modeling of complex systems such as radar and communications networks
bullet Supporting software and hardware integration and testing
bullet Creating a place where users and developers come together in a controlled environment

ØIn addition to the requirement for system modeling and testing, a Common Operating Environment requires standards and it is envisaged that, when complete, the JWIC will be the "custodian of the standards" which will include:
bullet Approved test procedures
bullet Approved test software
bullet Encryption standards
bullet Standard data formats such as DTED, Digital data, Vector, Raster, GIS etc.
bullet 2D graphics standards
bullet 3D model standards
bullet Graphical User Interface formats
bullet Change control and change management
bullet Software version control

It is envisaged that, when complete, this project will also form the basis of a comprehensive War Gaming facility which will enable decision makers at all levels to test new equipment, theories and operational concepts in a realistic simulation environment.
