SMART
Building Management System
The inherent capabilities in the SMART design bring the power of a real time
data management system into the areas of
security, asset management, inventory management, project management and
integrated systems within a building or series of buildings.
SMART is designed to be at the
heart of an enterprise system and to enable a flow of hardware, software and
knowledge from design, through development, integration and operation.
SMART is an open system which frees the architect and developer from the
need to be trapped into a propriety system or systems when seeking to
integrate diverse systems within a development project. SMART is
designed to interface to different protocols and is therefore able to act as
an interface to different systems from different manufacturers to bring them
all together into a central intelligent system.
SMART is light
enough to sit at board level directly on sensors and controls and it is easy
to add plug and play modules which add interconnectivity and functionality to
the core product. SMART frees the designer from the need to have a server-based
system and can easily be incorporated into a building project.
SMART supports all stages of a project, from design, through development
to building occupation.
During Development SMART can reduce risk, reduce losses and enhance the
management process by integrating real time inventory management and asset
control with business process such as Excel and Project software to give a
real-time update on progress and to assist supply chain management ensuring that
stock is not kept waiting on site to be used. Areas incorporated could
include
 |
Purchasing
|
 |
ØStock
balancing |
 |
ØDistribution
|
 |
ØHandling
of returned items |
 |
ØHandling
of variations |
 |
ØSpotting
system inefficiencies |
 |
Minimising pilferage and
theft |

Access to sensitive information can be controlled by authentication
using the built-in software encryption to ensure that information is
only accessed by those who have the need to know. Once a building
is completed, SMART can provide a seamless interface to the different
systems being employed and adds value by supporting the occupant with
integrated systems for energy management, inventory tracking, security
etc.. These client support systems can include: |
|
 |
 |
Security and Safety
 |
Alarm systems (Including information
from web cameras |
 |
Access Control |
 |
Asset, inventory and staff tracking |
 |
All systems linked to building controls
and safety systems to ensure integrated
response to incidents |
|
